ABSTRACT
The article reports on the $98.7 billion estimated aggregate cost spent by the seven largest oil companies on the pricier business of oil exploration and production worldwide. These seven companies includes Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell PLC, BP, Total, Chevron Corp., ConocoPhilips and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. The source for the reported cost estimation is the Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. which accordingly, the figure signifies an increase more than four times higher compared to the equivalent figure in 2000.
