ABSTRACT
The author discusses Western and multicultural curricula in elementary and secondary arts education. He states that the students without deep and personal knowledge of their own artistic heritage will have no model by which to respect artistic heritage of other cultures. It is also emphasized that they cannot significantly study other cultures while unknowledgeable of their own.
