The article discusses the contravening concepts of community in German literature and society from 1914-1933. It is stated that contravening concepts of community existed in nationalist, internationalist and pacifist writings and were speculated in literary discussion of the German military. It is averred that Franz Pfemfert's "Die Aktion," is one of the most interesting literary-political journals that interrogated the values of German militarism. Pfemfert's poem attacks a representative concept of community and the adoption of narrow group values as an ideal for society.
