The article reports that the new Alliance for Engineering in Medicine and Biology (AEMB) will conduct a scientific, technical and educational programs aimed at developing effective dialogue and substantive interaction in the U.S. The goal is to improve the quality and distribution of health care through the earlier introduction and more enlightened use of advanced technology. The AEMB will serve various communities, professions and its member associations. It also assumed the responsibilities of the Joint Committee on Engineering in Medicine and Biology, including sponsorship of the Annual Conference on Engineering in Medicine and Biology.
