ABSTRACT
The article highlights the popularity of social-networking Web sites worldwide. Sites, like MySpace and Hi5, were launched in the 1990s. According to the author, recently the greatest growth in the sites' popularity happened outside the U.S. It is said that monthly users of networking sites in Asia and Australia increased almost 50 percent in just 10 months. The site Hi5 is considered the third largest online social network worldwide. The Middle East and Africa have Netlog, a chameleon of social-networking sites that can detect a user's log-in location.
