ABSTRACT
The article discusses the significance sustainable urban design in the U.S. Sustainable development is important to mankind because it brings to mind the people's responsibility to Earth, to each other and to the next generation to come. The government should motivate and encourage the people to be involved in sustainable development because of the growing awareness of climatic changes, the growing population with its consequent demands upon resources. It is the responsibility of mankind to establish and to build a sustainable environment for people to live in.
