The article discusses the emerging oil field in the median line of Vietnam and Indonesia. Vietnam is close to producing its first oil from the Nam Con Son basin. Premier Oil, A london- based oil company, is planning to develop two faulted structures that are discovered in the south of the basin. This is said to produce up to 80 MMbbl of oil reserves. In December 2006, Premier got a 45% operating interest in block 7/8/97 . Analysis of a new 2D seismic grid over 7/3 suggests thesame oil play elements are in place for oil prospectivity. Furthermore, geological and geophysical studies are in process to define drilling targets.
