ABSTRACT
The article outlines meetings on activities of the U.S. armed forces during the Vietnam War in 1971. Attendees at the Weekly Intelligence Estimate Update (WIEU) discussed press embargo and impending cross-border operation. An overview of a session on operation Lam Son 719, a three-division raid into Laos launched by South Vietnamese forces in February, is provided. Also noted is the significant advances in the expansion of security throughout South Vietnam during 1968 to 1970.
