ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the advertising program called Beacon, which was launched with the social network website called Facebook. The program included notifications on the sites of Facebook users which displayed their online shopping activity. The program was opposed by the users, and the article explains that its participation will be more voluntary. Other Facebook programs, such as the News Feed, are discussed and the role of consumers in advertising is explored.
