ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the development of a technology by California-based company Ausra Inc., which uses solar power as a source of energy. The technology uses mirrors to focus light onto tubes filled with water, producing steam to drive a turbine. The liquid storage retains 95% of the solar energy, compared with 65% for an electric battery. It is stated that a pilot is already running in the Hunter River Valley, New South Wales, and the idea is catching on in the U.S., Germany and Spain.
