The article focuses on an increase in the popularity of biofuels, including those made from corn, which is being seen globally in response to concerns about global warming. A discussion of the advantages of biofuels over fossil fuels is presented. The negative impact biofuels have had and will have on wildlife is examined. Arguments are presented which suggest that even if cellulosic ethanol becomes practical, biofuels will provide at best only a part of the solution to the problems of global warming and energy supply.
