ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the impact of the dramatic images depicting the fall of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, published on April 9, 2003 in newspapers in the U.S. These pictures signaled the victory of the U.S. According to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, one cannot help but think of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Iron Curtain upon watching these symbolic images. The most important point is that it is stands as an image that tells a historic event because of its skillful deployment of established tropes. Genuine or not, these images still represents the hope of the state in winning against Iraq.
