The article examines several issues regarding the compensation of chief executive officers (CEOs) in India. It is argued that Indian CEO compensation is far below global levels, even if it grows at a faster pace. Several potential impacts of this growth, such as global mobility, are cited. In addition, it emphasizes the need to ensure that while the country integrates with global economy and sees rising pay levels, it does not shift away from the tenets of responsible executive remuneration.
