ABSTRACT
The article offers various anecdotes about gun use in Japan. Despite the country's lengthy history of being largely a gun-free nation, statistics show that increasing gang related shootings have the public wondering if policies are strict enough. There are an estimated 500,000 unlicensed guns in Japan, of which the police have confiscated only 458. There have been 5 gun related homicides in 2007, compared to just one in 2006.
