ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs related to the real estate business in Great Britain. A report, which stated that a proposed planning gain tax on the uplift in land values conferred by planning permission was to be abandoned by the government, has been denied. The Leader column remarked on the big gap between the cost to a listed property firm of becoming a real estate investment trust and the sum of capital gains tax that this expunges. Hammerson director John Bywater retired in March 2007.
