ABSTRACT
The article presents the 20th-century artistic work depicting war scenes of past centuries. Max Ernst, displayed canvases at the New York's Museum of Modern Art as "The Fireside Angel" (1937) depicting his reaction to Franco's fascism in Spain. Salvador Dali, displayed canvases at the Philadelphia Museum of Art as "Burning Giraffe" (1936-1937) depicting his antiwar work.
