ABSTRACT
This article looks at what the future may have in store for the Middle East. The author claims that the American era in the Middle East is over, mainly due to the Iraq War. Other events have helped, including the rise of Hamas and Hizbullah, and U.S. President George W. Bush's lack of active diplomacy. The author says that the wounds to America are self-inflicted, and have lead to the emergence of a Middle East likely to cause great damage to itself, the U.S., and the world.
