ABSTRACT
The article reports that the National Archives in the United Kingdom has begun charging a small fee for downloading digital records. The decision to charge is due to the cost of digitizing the records, which are free to view in physical form. A private firm has been contracted to take the commercial risk involved in digitizing records.
