ABSTRACT
The article reports on the controversy over the issue of authorized generic drugs in the United States. According to the article, authorized generic drugs are those that are made by a branded drug company launched to coincide with the loss of a patent of one of their own products. To manufacture or market the authorized generic, a branded drug company enters either a joint agreement with a generics firm or create a subsidiary.
