ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the implementation of economic sanctions in achieving foreign policy goals, on the basis of 103 case studies. The degree to which a financial sanction is effective for the sender country and its overall impact, defines the worth of the sanction. The interruption of official development assistance was the most frequently used economic sanctions. The freezing of financial assets of the target country in the sender country is another grave economic sanction.
