The article discusses the success of Boeing Co. in business through its incorporation of the Lean manufacturing assessment tool with the Baldrige process improvement framework for the company's integrated defense systems (IDS) operations. It provides information on the Baldrige criteria used for the company's manufacturing and engineering efficiencies as well as the IDS Lean practices deployed to help the company achieve its strategic objectives.
