ABSTRACT
This article informs that the researchers at Microsoft Corp. are working on a new project to locate and neutralize large scale unsolicited e-mail messages senders (spammers). The company's Cybersecurity and Systems Management Research Group has started an experimental project called Strider Search Defender, which employs noncontent analysis to automate the discovery of search spammers. Strider Search Defender starts with a basic list of confirmed spam uniform resource locators (URL)s and runs link queries on search engines through a tool called Spam Hunter. This helps in finding out forums on which known spam URLs were posted. More spam links are scraped onto these pages to generate a list of spam URLs.
