ABSTRACT
The article looks at the prospect of wind energy as an alternative electric power option. A windmill that is located at a windy location can be converted to electricity of about 175 watts per square meter of the area swept by its propeller. This could be technologically and economically feasible to feed electricity into an electric power transmission grid. Applications of wind energy range from small-scale use in isolated areas to large-scale electric generation, which is fed into electric utility networks.
