ABSTRACT
Five curriculum designs appropriate for general education programs have evolved in American secondary schools and colleges: distribution requirements, required courses, correlated courses, combined courses, the integrative seminar, and core curriculum. Forewarned of the advantages and disadvantages of each, college faculty members can choose the one most appropriate for their institution.
