ABSTRACT
The article reports developments related to nuclear energy industry in the U.S. Results of a study of the economic advantages of nuclear power reactors at various remote military sites were released by the Atomic Energy Commission on April 4, 1960. At four of the sites studied, nuclear power plants were found out to be more economical than conventional plants. The Detroit Edison Corp.'s Enrico Fermi plant, a 100,000-kilowatt fast breeder reactor, will not start up until early 1961 due to redesigning of the fuel element.
