ABSTRACT
The article reports on the grant awarded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research to the Swedish Climate Modeling Program. The program is a collaboration between the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) and the departments of meteorology, hydrology and oceanography in several universities in Sweden. The program consists of three subprograms and is aimed towards supporting planners and decision makers in assessing the development of the future climate in the Nordic Region. The Rossby Center of SMHI will provide the infrastructure and will be responsible for numerical experimentation as it will be the center of the research program and national resource for environmental and climate-related studies in the country.
