ABSTRACT
The article reports on the transformation of the United States global defense posture. It discusses the new strategic landscape of the United States military addressing the key security challenges it will face in the future. The conceptual framework of the Secretary of Defense's 2005 National Defense Strategy focuses on the traditional, irregular, catastrophic, and disruptive security challenges.
