A once-daily psoriasis ointment

This article presents information about the Taclonex ointment from Warner Chilcott PLC. Calcipotriene hydrate and betamethasone dipropionate are the active ingredients of this ointment. The ointment is used for treating psoriasis vulgaris. Calcipotriene is metabolized in the liver to less potent metabolites. Betamethasone is a fluorinated corticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive actions. One should discontinue the application of this ointment if hypercalcemia, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression, hyperglycemia or glucosuria occurs.
