ABSTRACT
The article reports on the introduction of bills in the U.S. that will pave the way for the opening of outer continental shelf (OCS) and other restricted areas for natural gas exploration and development. Representative John Peterson proposed to remove the 25-year old moratoria on OCS gas development from the Department of Interior's appropriations bill. Senators Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman introduced a bill that will open up a region in the Eastern Gulf Coast for exploration.
