ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's opinion on federal Medicaid plans in the U.S. The Medicaid spending is projected at $50 billion for the fiscal year 2006-2007, which accounts to be 45% of all state spending. To understand the extent of Medicaid-spending, New York has 6.6 percent of the U.S.'s population but consumes 14.5 percent of the nation's Medicaid cost. The Empire stat's Medicaid program is the most expensive in the U.S. by far. A few reforms are required to control the Medicaid spending in the country.
