ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses actors playing characters based on actual political figures. She focuses on the television movie "Pinochet in Suburbia," wherein Derek Jacobi plays Chilean dictator General Augusto Pinochet and Anna Massey portrays Margaret Thatcher. Kenneth Cranham and James Bolam have both played the former prime minister Harold Wilson. Actors should be chosen for their skills rather than because they look like the person they are portraying.
