ABSTRACT
The article examines the status of the relationship of the two Communist countries, China and the Soviet Union. The alliance between Russia and China had become strained. Several factors contributed to this situation. One was India's plan for prisoner exchange that could enable China to get out of the Korean mess. The death of Joseph Stalin and China's request for terms for peace in Korea also contributed to the tensed situation.
