The article reports on the support offered by consumer electronics companies for the Blu-ray Disc (BD) high definition videodisc format. According to Victor Matsuda, VP of the Blu-ray Disc Group for Sony Corp. of America, almost all companies that played a role in the success of DVD will manufacture Blu-ray hardware. Companies such as LG Electronics and Pioneer Electronics have announced plans to release their respective Blu-ray Disc players in 2006.
