ABSTRACT
The article focuses on Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo! Inc. which are planning to connect their instant messaging networks. The idea is to create a user base to compete America Online Inc. and cut off Google Inc.'s plan to dictate the terms of IM's interoperable future. According to the companies, users of MSN and Windows Messenger programs will be able to communicate with users of Yahoo Messenger, and vice versa. The deal is expected to present awareness, text chat, emoticons and PC-to-PC voice. Live Communications Server 2005 of Microsoft has facilitated customers to connect to the AIM and Yahoo networks.
