ABSTRACT
The article provides information about transfer of power. A primary source from the local utility and an alternate source from an on-site generators is included in the applications of transfer of power. Types and characteristics of transfer switches are presented. The typical application for an emergency power supply system is linked with the life safety system of hospitals, large assembly-based facilities and high rises.
