This article focuses on various documents related to technological literacy standards in the U.S. In October 2005, the Technology for All Americans Project (TFAAP) came to an end, having far exceeded its goals. TFAAP delivered a philosophical basis of the need for technological literacy, content, student assessment, professional development, and program standards for technological literacy, and practical guides for implementing the standards. One of the final tasks of TFAAP was a revision of the document "Technology for All Americans: A Rationale and Structure for the Study of Technology." The revision is available in CD version only. It is a pivotal document to technology education and a must-read for all who strive to deliver technological literacy in the classroom. The document defines technology and discusses the power and the promise of technology and the need for technological literacy. The original document provided a foundation for the development of the technological literacy standards. The document "Advancing Excellence in Technological Literacy: Student Assessment, Professional Development, and Program Standards" contains three separate but interrelated sets of standards for student assessment, professional development, and technology programs.
