ABSTRACT
This article reports on Japan's economy showing signs of vitality. Investors have been flocking to Japanese stocks in the wake of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's electoral victory in September 2005. Koizumi's Liberal Democratic Party won a mandate from voters responding to Koizumi's pro-reform message. Japan's retail sales and employment are at their highest levels since 1997.
