ABSTRACT
This article reports on the Advocate magazine's outing of the late rhythm and blues superstar Luther Vandross, who passed away in July 2005. On August 17,2005 editors posted an article to Advocate.com that had originally run on Billboard magazine's Web site about an upcoming Vandross tribute album, but the editors made a change: in the last sentence of the first paragraph they inserted the word gay in front of the word artist.
