ABSTRACT
The article reports on developments about industrial relations in the U.S. In its semiannual report for the period ending March 31, 1989, the Department of Labor's Office of the Inspector General stated its concerns over the safeguards for the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). The General Accounting Office criticized the public accounting profession for its failure to identify and report problems in the management and operation of savings and loans institutions. The Department of Labor and its ERISA Advisory Council are reviewing the enforcement of ERISA, particularly on criminal enforcement.
