Traces the history of the establishment of the Isaiah Berlin Public Lectures in Middle East Dialogue, a program which provides support to studies about Israel at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies. Political difficulties facing the country of Israel during the time that the scholarship program was established; Conditions set by the benefactor who funded the scholarship regarding how the program should be implemented; Reasons why the program was named after Isaiah Berlin.
