ABSTRACT
This article presents information related to the Great Wall of China. Today, the Great Wall of China stretches 4,161 miles from Jiayuguan Pass in China's Gansu Province to Shanhaiguan Pass of Heibei Province. The Wall's original purpose was to protect China from the tribes that threatened its northern and western borders, such as the Mongols and the Huns. Soldiers in the towers along the Great Wall could make smoke signals by day and fires by night to send messages along the Wall and back into the heart of China much faster than a man could run.
