ABSTRACT
This article presents the minutes of the meeting done by the Speech Communication Association (SCA) Administrative Committee at the organization's headquarters in Annadale, Virginia on September 19 to 20, 1982. The committee continued its exploration of ways in which the Association can be helpful to academic departments whose programs are under threat. They appointed Malcolm O. Sillars to a three-year term as a Trustee of the Karl R. Wallace Memorial Award. They also agreed to recommend Denver, Colorado to the Legislative Council as the site of the November, 1985 convention. They forwarded, with approval, a report filed by Waldo W. Braden, Chair of an Ad Hoc Committee on Ethics, to the Legislative Council. The Committee also sanctioned SCA cosponsorship with the American Forensic Association and the University of Utah of a third Summer Conference on Argumentation, to be held in Alta, Utah, July 28 to 31, 1983. The Committee approved SCA cosponsorship of an InterAmerican Conference on Intercultural Communication, tentatively scheduled for Puebla, Mexico, December 26, 1983 to January 2, 1984. They also endorsed for transmittal to the Legislative Council a new policy statement on SCA awards. They directed the Committee on Committees to create and present to the Legislative Council an Affirmative Action Committee, headed by an Affirmative Action officer.
