ABSTRACT
The article presents a summary of the minutes of the meeting of the U.S. Speech Communication Association (SCA) in March 1983 in Annandale, Virginia. The SCA meeting was presided by President Kenneth E. Andersen and the SCA Administrative Committee. At the meeting, it was learned from First Vice-President John Waite Bowers that William Bennett, board chairman of the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities, will be featured speaker at the November 10 to 13, 1983 69th Annual Meeting of SCA in Washington. Former President Frank E. X. Dance reported that a new Task Force on Computer Applications had been appointed and that it will meet at the Washington convention. Moreover, SCA adopted new guidelines for the evaluation of SCA executive staff members. SCA also appointed a new Committee on Ethics, to be chaired by Carroll C. Arnold. Karlyn Kohrs Campbell of the University of Kansas has been selected to serve a three-year term as a Wallace Award Trustee. Further, the SCA approved Educational Policies Board plans for the periodic distribution of professional materials to state speech communication organizations and to state education agencies. The committee also ratified the budget allocations and preliminary overall 1983-84 budget recommended by the Finance Board.
