ABSTRACT
The article announces that Speech Communication Association's (SCA) Committee on Assessment and Testing has started Educational Extras in Communication & Learning, a series of occasional single page reports about issues in the teaching and testing of speaking and listening skills. Jan Anderson heads the project which will mail these occasional reports to the Chief State School Officers, State Department of Education Language Arts Coordinators and other educational groups. The first two, which were mailed in July 1986 through the efforts of SCA intern Kathy Peterson, are Developing Oral Communications by Andersen and Improving Listening Abilities by Charles Swanson. Each one has five-eight paragraphs providing a general background for non-speech communication leaders as well as several recommended readings. SCA members wanting to participate in this project should contact Andersen , who hopes that over fifty different topics can be developed in the next five years.
