ABSTRACT
This article presents the conference proceedings of the 1984 Legislative Council of the Speech Communication Association (SCA) in the U.S. during its 70th annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois on November 1 to 4, 1984. On Thursday, November 1, SCA President John Waite Bowers called the meeting to order. Members of the Council were invited to introduce themselves. Approval of the minutes of the 1983 meetings of the Legislative Council was moved, seconded and carried. Announcements were made. Bowers invited questions and comments on the Council Information Reports that had been distributed. Adoption of Resolution F was moved, seconded and carried. It reads: Resolved that, assuming that advantageous arrangements can be concluded, the executive secretary is directed to negotiate an agreement with a hotel (or hotels) in New Orleans, Louisiana for the 1988 convention. The following members were elected to serve on the 1985 Committee on Committees: Janis F. Andersen, Thomas Kaye and Barbara O'Keefe. N. Edd Miller was elected to serve as chairperson of the 1985 Nominating Committee. Maridell Fryar and Beverly Reynolds were elected to serve on the 1985 Resolutions Committee. Bowers appointed Janice Schuetz to chair the Committee.
