ABSTRACT
This article reports on the actions taken by the Administrative Committee of the Speech Communication Association (SCA) at the meeting at the National office in Annandale, Virginia, on September 13-14, 1981. At the meeting, the company: acted to recommend Washington, D.C. to the Legislative Council as the site for the November 1983 convention; encouraged the National Office to continue its exploration of academic internships; called for an ad hoc committee to review SCA awards policies and procedures; agreed to the dissolution of the Task Force on Alternative Careers, with commendation to founder, organizer, and Chairperson Jane Blankenship; decided to recommend to the Committee on Committees that the present Governmental Relations Committee be replaced by a less formal Washington-based legislative affairs group; endorsed a plan submitted by a steering committee of Emeritus members that is seeking to enhance service to and contributions from Emeritus and other retired SCA members; received guidelines for convention action caucuses prepared by First Vice-President, Anita Taylor; approved a 1981 mini-summer conference on Interpretive Approaches to the Study of Organizational Communication; accepted the report of the Finance Board, including a revised budget for fiscal 1980-1981.
