ABSTRACT
This article encourages members of the Speech Communication Association (SCA) in the U.S. to attend the 65th annual meeting on November 10 to 13, 1979 in San Antonio, Texas. It is time to plan to join in the activities of Convention--San Antonio. The convention begins on Saturday, November 10 with the Legislative Council meetings and a full schedule of Short Courses. Saturday is also the day of the no-host cocktail party and Ron Allen's presidential address, "When a Discipline Meets a Child." That day, also, the SCA officers will meet informally with new members to answer questions and make suggestions on how to get maximum benefits from SCA participation. Two of the six Action Caucuses will be held that evening. Action Caucuses are open discussions and exchanges of ideas and materials. Topics to be discussed are "Communication Competence for Non-English Speaking Students" and "Older Persons and Communication." Short Courses and Action Caucuses continue through the next three days of the convention when the regular programs are scheduled. In those three days of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the convention planners will provide over a dozen options in each of thirteen program periods. Not only is the program worth the price but San Antonio is a great place to be in November with an average temperature of 61 degrees and outdoor attractions which make it one of unique cities in the U.S.
