ABSTRACT
This article presents the nominees for two leadership positions at the Speech Communication Association (SCA) in the U.S. The 1978 SCA Nominating Committee, chaired by Jerry Tarver from the University of Richmond in Virginia, submits the following nominations in keeping with Article IV of the SCA Bylaws. Section 6 of Article IV reads in part as follows: "The slate offered by the Nominating Committee shall be distributed to all members of the association at least four months prior to the election. Within three months of the distribution of the slate, any five-hundred members of the association may nominate by petition filed with the Executive Secretary additional nominees whose acceptance of nomination has been certified." Frank E. X. Dance from the University of Denver and Herbert Simons from Temple University are the nominees for SCA second vice president. Meanwhile, the following are the nominees for Legislative Council members: Fred E. Jandt from the State University College in Brockport, New York; Richard A. Katula from the University of Rhode Island; David Markham from San Jose State University in California; Michael M. Osborn from Memphis State University in Tennessee; Gerald Lee Ratliff from Montclair State College; and Harry Sharp, Jr. from the California State Polytechnic University. Only three are to be elected among the nominees.
