This paper looks at results of the election held by the Speech Communication Association in September 1977. Malcolm O. Sillars, University of Utah, was named by the membership to the office of second vice-president for 1978. Sillars will serve as first vice-president in 1979 and as president in 1980. The following members were elected to three-year terms, beginning January 1, 1978, on the Legislative Council: Barbara Eakins, Ohio State University; Marcella Oberle, California State University at Los Angeles; and Roy Wood, Northwestern University. For the 1977 Nominating Committee, elected at large-members were: Cassandra L. Book, Michigan State University; James L. Golden, Ohio State University; Wilmer A. Linkugel, University of Kansas; and Robert L. Scott, University of Minnesota. The 1978 elected Nominating Committee were: Kenneth Frandsen, Pennsylvania State University; Gustav Friedrich, University of Nebraska; Bruce Gronbeck, University of Iowa; and Thomas Scheidel, University of Washington, Seattle.
