ABSTRACT
This article reports on a meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia on October 28, 1972 to select four institutions as co-sponsors with the Speech Communication Association (SCA) of regional institutes for secondary school teachers in the U.S. to be held during the summer of 1973. Some 35 institutions had responded to the announcement inviting institutional proposals that appeared in the August 1972 issue of "Spectra" journal. For the Eastern Region, the State University of New York at Brockport has been selected to present "Contemporary Trends in Speech Communication Education" from June 22 to July 13. For the Southern Region, Allen Bales of the University of Alabama will present "Contemporary Theories and Methods of Teaching Speech Communication" from July 9 to 27. R. R. Allen of the University of Wisconsin will head the Central Region to discuss "Teaching Interpersonal Communication in the Secondary School" from June 11 to 29. Frank E. X. Dance of the University of Denver, Western Region, will take up "Workshop in Speech Communication Theory for the Secondary School Teacher" from June 11 to 30. Present at the selection meeting were Waldo W. Braden, chairman of the Ad Hoc SCA Summer Institutes Committee, committee members Bernard Brommel and John Sisco, and executive secretary William Work.
